Frequently Asked Questions

Cleaning

Tekirdağ Public Health Directorate made a statement and informed about the cleaning of “Water Pumps”, which has been on the agenda in recent days.

Pointing out that the pumps must be checked whether they contain foreign odors and whether they are clean before use, the authorities said, “The stopper on the pump tap should be kept closed at all times.”

The authorities, who also made suggestions on pump cleaning, explained their suggestions with the following items:

The water pump is removed from the carboy. A cup of boiling water is prepared. First, the inner and outer part of the pipe entering the carboy is cleaned with a clean brush and any visible dirt is removed. Then it is immersed in the glass containing boiling water and the boiling water is drawn into the pump and flowed through the tap.

This process is continued until the boiling water in the glass is finished. The outer surface of the pump is also cleaned,
is attached back to the carboy. If you wash your sinks and pumps with detergent,
rinse thoroughly. Remember that insufficient rinsing will result in the detergent odor and taste transferring to the water.

Sedimentation

We think that the sediments formed when water is boiled are harmful and we change the water we use. Prof. Dr. Zeki Karagülle, Head of the Department of Medical Ecology and Hydroclimatology, Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul Medical Faculty, says, “The sediments and lime in the water are actually an indication that the water is rich in minerals” and explains the causes of the sediments in the water.

The lime and sediment that occurs during boiling and accumulates at the bottom of boiling vessels is actually an indicator of the healthy and mineral-rich structure of the carboy or pet water you use daily. These substances that give water its hardness actually give clues about the natural structure of water.

The formation of lime and sediment during the boiling of highly mineralized natural waters is questioned as a negative feature, whereas these are water-insoluble calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate compounds that give hardness to highly mineralized natural waters and are formed during boiling. Contrary to the perceived harm of this substance, most commonly known as lime, it is an indicator of mineral richness and health in drinking water. You can easily learn the mineral structure of the water you drink by reading the label on it.

Storage

Water should be stored in cool (5-15 degrees), dark (away from sunlight) and dry (less than 50 percent humidity) environments.
Water should be kept as far away as possible from chemicals, detergents, cleaning agents, gasoline and similar substances.

Water Life

The lifetime of packaged water is determined by the manufacturer according to the degree of permeability of the packaging and the structure of the water and is indicated on the packaging.

Arsenic

Arsenic can be easily distinguished by filtration processes.

Fountain Water

Boiling water for 15 minutes above 72 degrees Celsius eliminates some microorganisms. However, boiling has no effect on arsenic, iron and particulate components.

Natural

Is natural spring water completely natural or are minerals added?

Packaged natural spring waters taste completely natural and mineral additions are prohibited.

Reverse Osmosis

No, it is not applied. Natural spring water can only be filtered. Filtration reduces high levels of minerals to levels permitted by law.

Mineral Structure

No it is not. Since minerals are added to processed drinking water, they can always be kept at the same level. But in natural spring water, the mineral structure changes seasonally.

Water Preference

This is a decision about consumer taste. Both natural spring water and processed drinking water products of branded packaged water producers are safe for health. There are only differences in flavor and mineral value between them.

Source

Yes, it is obvious. Natural spring water producers are legally obliged to write the source of the water they bottle on the packaging.

Filters

Filters installed on faucets can function to reduce the hardness of water if they are used in accordance with the principles of use. Household filters usually only do chemical treatment, not microbiological treatment.

On the other hand, if special units such as UV (ultra-violet) lamps or silver filters are used in the home filter system, water can be purified from microbes. However, in order for such a system to work properly, there should be no sediment and physical particles in the water inlet of the UV lamp and the lamp should not have expired.

Filtration

It is a process that standardizes the quality and health of water by removing micron-level particles that may be present in the water. If done as recommended, there is no harm to health.

Minerals

Yes, it is sufficient. It contains all the minerals needed for quality water.

processed water

Processed drinking water is water obtained from underground water basins, purified with advanced technology called reverse osmosis, ozonized, and offered to consumers with the addition of minerals suitable for taste.

chlorinated

May contain. There are microbes that chlorination cannot kill microbiologically.

Well Water

In order for well water to be drinkable, the mineral structure and microorganisms it contains must be known. Water producers can make these waters drinkable with different methods.

Packaged Water

This is because water packaged legally and under the supervision of local authorities is of high quality, clean and balanced mineral composition and is produced under the prescribed conditions.

Ozone

If ozonization is applied, it is mandatory to include this information on the product label.

Minerals

No minerals can be added to sodas, only gas, based on the source of the water, up to the level of carbon dioxide gas evolved during extraction.

Arsenic

In potable water, it is not harmful if it is less than 10 micrograms per liter, the standard set by the World Health Organization.

Packaging

The Ministry of Health is authorized to issue production permits and inspections.

Sales

We recommend that you buy packaged water from points of sale. Points of sale are constantly inspected by the authorities of packaged water companies.

Health

When hard, i.e. naturally mineralized water that is not very low in minerals is heated or boiled, sediment is formed, the main ingredient of which is insoluble calcium carbonate, i.e. lime. It settles at the bottom of the container, teapot or pot. The chemical process that takes place here is that the calcium and bicarbonate ions that make up the hardness of the water precipitate to the bottom during heating or boiling, forming sediment, the essence of which is calcium carbonate salt, and form hard sediments known colloquially as lime.

A number of positive effects of hard water and natural mineral waters on human health, which have been scientifically proven and better understood in recent years, are actually due to the calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate ions they contain – the substances that give water its hardness.
